A unique insight into a dancer's complicated work and preparation for a role.
In this episode you meet principal dancer Nathalie Nordquist. Nathalie was named first soloist dancer in 2001 and principal in 2005. In this episode, she performs a solo from the classical ballet Giselle and talks about how her relationship with the technically advanced role of Giselle has changed and developed over the years. DESISLAVA STOEVA

In this episode you will meet Desislava Stoeva who is originally from Bulgaria. »Desi« has been been with the Royal Swedish Ballet since 2007, with the exemption of a few years spent at the Finnish National Ballet. In this episode she performs no less than two solos from La Bayadère: Nikiya's and Gamzatti's. The solo of Nikiya emphasize the lyrical aspect of the role while the other solo, Gamzatti, showcase the power aspect of the character.

GABRIEL JAHNKE

In this episode you will meet Gabriel Jahnke who is originally from Australia. Gabriel has been dancing with the Royal Swedish Ballet since 2018. In this episode he performs a solo from La fille mal gardée. Colas’ solo is about joy given in a simple and generous way showing the natural “ballon” of the dancer. The solo propose an interesting combination of big jumps, small batterie and sustained movement.  At the piano, Jane Lennard-Suff.

DMITRY ZAGREBIN

In this episode you will meet Dmitry Zagrebin who is originally from Russia. Dmitry has been dancing with the Royal Swedish Ballet since 2015. In this episode he performs a solo from Flames of Paris from 1932. In this particular solo you should keep an eye on the dancer's powerful and effortless jumps showing his great physicality. Dmitry was at this time rehearsing Flames of Paris choreographed by Vasily Vainonen. At the piano Anna Buchenhorst performing Boris Asafyev's's music.

In this episode you will meet Natalie Ogonek who is originally from Canada. Natalie has been dancing with the Royal Swedish Ballet since 2017. In this episode she performs a solo from Les Sylphides from 1909 - »Prélude«. In this particular solo you should keep an eye on the dancer's porte de bras technique (movement of the arms) and the amazing balance. Natalie was at this time rehearsing Les Sylphides choreographed by Mikhail Fokine. At the piano Jane Lennard-Suff who performs Frédéric Chopin's music.

SARAH ERIN KEAVENEY

A unique insight into a dancer's complicated work and preparation for a role.

In this episode you will meet Sarah Erin Keaveney who is originally from the UK and was educated at the Royal Ballet School. Sarah has been dancing with the Royal Swedish Ballet since 2018. In this episode she performs a solo from Swan Lake's act 1. In this particular solo you should keep an eye on the dancer's advanced pointe toe technique, the "batterie" technique (rhythmic steps where legs / feet are beaten together) and the complicated jumps and turn.
Sarah was at this time preparing for the classical ballet performance Swan Lake choreographed by the legendary Rudolf Nureyev after Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. At the piano Jane Lennard-Suff who performs Tchaikovsky's familiar music.
